My friend and I are on different servers, but according to what I have learned about mega servers along with past experience, we should still be able to play together. Eric Flannum: Servers and server transfers work a bit differently in Guild Wars 2 than they do in a typical MMO. First, we ask you to choose a Home Server. This Home Server determines which side Change Server and same ID About Change Server. Server-to-server transfer is available within the same platform (Web version cannot be transferred to Facebook version or smartphone app version) Data, including VIPs, can be transferred only if you choose to migrate servers, but the number of servers you can choose to migrate to is limited (see 1) World vs World. You can only play with your server in WvW (and the servers linked to yours). If you want to play with friends consistently you'll need to be on their server. **HOWEVER. Last I read this will be changed to be guild-based so just being in the same guild as your friends will be enough, once it's implemented. 2) NA vs Europe servers. You can use that yes, or use the character name your friend is currently using to add them as a friend. The game will automatically change the name to your friends account name. No matter what character they are using they will show up, it will just change the name accordingly. Open your map (m) and click one of the waypoints. They look like diamonds iirc. I meant more that you just need to travel to a new zone, which can be done by traveling there on foot or using a waypoint you've unlocked to fast travel. Boards SEA Malaysia here. I've been getting massive ping spikes since the Exalted update last week. My connection had been a constant 200-300ms and had no skill delays etc. After the update, it went up to 4k in events. Previously I'd be very comfortable playing pinata or even leyline events. Thanks to its fast speeds and strong security capabilities, OpenDNS servers are the fastest DNS servers for Guild Wars 2. Primary DNS: 208.67.222.222. Secondary DNS: 208.67.220.220. 3. Cloudflare. Cloudflare is a popular and reliable DNS service provider, that is widely used by people around the world. As such, it is possible to transfer onto a full server by trying at a different time of day. Try checking during off-peak hours, such as early in the morning. I've heard from several guildmates that they've had success transferring onto a normally "Full" world this way. Share. Improve this answer. Choosing a Server. Choosing a server in Guild Wars 2 is essential and should be given thought. It affects one of the three aspects of the game: World vs World (WvW for short). It’s strongly recommended to get in a server with high population. Note: server ONLY affects WvW. In PvE and PvP it’s only region-restricted, meaning people in Europe ojehaf.
